Christmas performance "A Heart of Flame"

Back

4 musical performances took place

3000 spectators attended the events

90 volunteers helped during the events

In early January, four charity musical performances "A Heart of Flame" based on the fairy tale by H.C. Andersen “The Snow Queen”, were held in Izhevsk for pupils of orphanages in Udmurtia and children from families in a difficult life situation in Izhevsk.

This is the 24th charity Christmas performance organized by the staff and volunteers of the International Center of Hope & Charity for children of Udmurtia.

This year
- more than 3000 spectators watched our performances,
- 1,200 children received sweet Christmas gifts,
- more than 90 volunteers participated in the preparation and holding of the holiday.

Today we would like to look at these performances through the eyes of its participants, a team of directors and volunteers, and find out what charity performances have become for them, what the Christmas project means to them.

Nadezhda Korepanova, a scriptwriter, composer, mother of 5 children.
“Participation in the project is important first of all for me as a mother. I would like my children to watch kind performances, full of good sense, where Christian values and virtues are at the heart of the plot. And the opportunity to participate in the creation of such performances along with my children is a blessing for me!”

Vyacheslav Kuznetsov, a composer, doctor, father of 6 children.
“I am grateful to God for the opportunity to be part of the creative team of Christians from different churches in Izhevsk, a team that has been giving children and adults a miracle of Christmas holidays for so many years already! And maybe for someone this word sounds too loud, but what else can you call the process of creating a performance from the origin to the implementation of the idea, script, music, poetry, choreography, design and production of costumes, as well as sound and special effects on stage, directing?
Of course, this is a miracle! Considering the fact that all the actors aren’t professionals, but completely different people, of different ages, from different churches and they do this voluntarily; they sacrifice their time, take rehearsals in singing and dancing diligently.
Of course, this is a miracle! Because every year the play invariably presents the main idea and meaning of Christmas in such a way that it falls into the heart of the audience. So in 2024, the musical "A Heart of Flame" based on the fairy tale of H.C. Andersen definitely "hit," starting with the name and ending with the final songs and footage of the video sequence on a big projector on the background.
Of course, this is a miracle! With such a large number of participants, among whom many are children, including the main characters, everything worked out and the artists were able to perform 4 performances a day, despite technical difficulties, which were also solved in a "miraculous" way.
How, if not a miracle, can I call the amazing performance of children on stage, an amazing combination of costumes, dances, songs with deep lyrics, which vividly show the power of prayer and the fire of true God's love, which can defeat everything and melt the ice!
I, sitting in the hall as a spectator, also cried with Gerda...
The performance not only warmed the hearts of young spectators, but maybe melted ice in some of their hearts, because among them there were many children with disabilities and some with a difficult fate.
The goal was achieved! And ahead there will be new performances and the expectations of the next miracle.”

Roman Glinsky, sound technician
“I want our performances to be made the best possible way. And I think I’m better at this than anyone else.”

Olya Averyanova, a choreographer, dancer, mother of two young children.
“To me participation in the project means to carry the Word of God to the world... This is spiritual creativity - as an opportunity to say thank you to God. I understand that I am in my place and am very glad that God allowed me to be involved in His works. I serve God, people, I am a tool in God's hands.”

Svetlana Gogoleva, a choreographer, dancer, mother of three children.
“Preparation and participation in ICHC performances is a "little life" to me. The idea of dances, rehearsals, the search for images and costumes, communication with the participants of the performance, performing on stage - you immerse yourself in all this with your head and heart. This "little life" enriches and fills my everyday life.”

Maria Khabibullina, a children’s choreographer, dancer, mother of two children.
Participation in the play is a huge privilege and a blessing for me! It means being part of the big creative, emotional, fun and loving family. Seeing how everything begins, develops and gives fruit is an indescribable delight! I really feel like a small gear in a huge complex mechanism where everything works, turns, switches! Every time a performance takes place, after it I feel a little bit empty, both pleasant and sad, and each time so look forward to new meetings, smiles, hugs, prayers, labor, ideas, alterations, thunder and rainbow of feelings! All of it is our Christmas performances!
I also would like to note Galina Kirillovna and her assistants! This is our reliable rear, our quiet harbor, where we will always find support, help, hugs and blessings.

Polina Nuriakhmetova, the second director, mother of 5 children, including an adopted teenage daughter.
“For me, participation in the Christmas project is an opportunity to serve the Lord and my neighbors with the gifts and education that He gave me. Glory to Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior!”

Yuri Alexandrovich Chubukov, principal director, Honored Worker of Culture of Udmurtia.
“Christmas project - 2024 is the work of many and many people! And it is only possible because God guided all of us and gave us His mercy!”

Lyudmila and Natalya Pankova, Elena Nagovitsyna, assistants in the Christmas "kitchen," people who take care of other volunteers throughout the day of performances in preparing lunch for artists.
“We are not artists, but we really want to serve the way we can, as we can. We're excited to be part of this big team.”

Preparation for the project begins long before the performances: in the spring and summer we finalize the script and decide on the team of actors, in the fall the first rehearsals begin, costumes are sewn, sweets are purchased and at the same time gifts are formed. It's a big collaboration of at least a hundred volunteers - they each do it for Christ to bring the good news of Christmas to every heart.
And now, finally, the day of performances comes...

The musical performance is based on the fairy tale by H.C. Andersen “The Snow Queen”.
Gerda's childhood faith, her loving heart and hope for strength from above help her overcome all difficulties in finding her named brother Kai; whom the intrigues of evil forces, and the kisses of the Snow Queen made him insensitive to life, almost ruined him...
"Roses bloom... Beauty, beauty!
Soon we will see the Baby Christ... "
Gerda sang, and "Kai cried so long and hard that the shard flowed out of his eyes along with his tears."
Kai woke up from a terrible dream, he sees Gerda, the world and himself anew.
And through Gerda's act we can see the truth of the Holy Scriptures:
"Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends." (John 15:13). These are the words of the Savior Jesus Christ whose Christmas we celebrate.

We thank our young and adult spectators for their kind words and lots of feedback they gave on our performance. Here we bring some of it.

We visited the wonderful Christmas performance "A Heart of Flame" based on Andersen's fairy tale "The Snow Queen." Thanks to everyone who took part in the creation of this performance. All actors, children and adults. It turned out to be a great play. We watched it at one breath.

GALINA ALIEVA says:

The hall is empty, the soffits went out, silence... Christmas performances have ended.
The whole year of search and creative efforts on the musical "A Heart of Flame" is over. Thanks to the efforts of each participant and only together, we were able to give people the joy of a bright Christmas holiday and strengthen the hope for the Lord.
If we see that the world around us has become at least a little better - our goal has been achieved.
Many thanks to all the project participants and those who supported us financially!
We wish everyone health, prosperity, peace, love and joy!
