1500 orphans and kids from needy families received gifts
15 orphanages participated
3000 people attended
At the beginning of January, our charitable Christmas performances took place at the Metallurg Theater, on the central square of Izhevsk. 3000 people attended and 1500 kids received sweet gifts.
Our Christmas performances that we have been preparing for, with such perseverance given the difficulties of the pandemic, are over now. The people who attended said plenty of words of gratitude and the actors were happy to be able to serve the Lord so that the true Christmas story can come into many people’s hearts and minds.
In the theater 3000 thousand people watched our performances and about 1500 people watched it on YouTube. We think the number of those who watched it on the Internet has increased by now.
We still live and think about this event - the music of the play still sounds inside. We received many grateful comments from the spectators and organizations (for instance, from the city centers of helping needy people and city administration). One of the city center workers told me that so many people would like to get a ticket (to attend) our performances, that everyone loves them, but not everyone can actually get a ticket and a sweet gift, as they’re limited in number.
We agree - each year we try to make a better performance and involve more young and active volunteers. Besides we get more experience and learn how to make it more spectacular and picturesque for the people. We have three young moms who make choreography for the play - they do it each year and their kids participate too. There are experienced musicians who do the voice and the sound for the play.
There are more and more people willing to participate in the performances. We counted - about 70 people volunteered in the play. In addition to that, we had 15 ushers who helped spectators find their places in the audience and greeted families at the entrance to the theater (measuring body temperature and putting some sanitizer on people’s hands) and 5 volunteers who were in charge of the “kitchen” and prepared food for the actors. Also there were 12 people from the city administration who helped us hand out presents according to their lists of needy families of Izhevsk. A total of 15 orphanages attended and received gifts!
Altogether it’s a big team that works like a body - each one has his own time and task. Praise God!
The story of the performances this year is based on a popular Russian cartoon called The Musicians of Bremen, but the plot is changed. The Trouveur (the Musician) is the main character. He’s loved by all the citizens of the town because of the kindness of his heart. He wants to celebrate Christmas in his own town and make a surprise and presents for the children and adults of the town. So he leaves the town and on his way he meets a Donkey, a Dog, a Cat and a Rooster. All of them have just escaped from their masters as they were treated badly by them. So the animals are ready to go with the Trouveur to bring joy to the children. On their way they happen to meet robbers who, having met the Trouveur and finding out his kindness and the message of God’s love, decide to give up their robberies and turn into good people. The message of God’s love in Trouveur’s mouth transforms everyone he meets. So finally they come back to the town and altogether celebrate the Lord and His Christmas. Also the children of Bremen prepared a surprise for Trouveur - they made a scene of Mary and Joseph holding Baby Jesus.
What is so important and essential in the play is the songs! They are so beautiful and the lyrics are just amazing - you want to join in as soon as you hear them. The songs tell us about kindness, friendship, love of our Lord, about His presence in everything that is around us, about the power of Jesus over evil and that He saves the world.
So many people have been working for it. We’re so grateful to God for each and every one of them. All of them are happy to serve the Lord in this ministry!
