Dear friends!
We are pleased to present to your attention the Report on the work of the International Center for Hope & Charity in 2023.
Our main focus remains on supporting families facing challenging life circumstances. We provide comprehensive assistance to a variety of families, with the primary goal of preserving and nurturing strong family units, promoting the growth of a healthy younger generation, reducing the risk of social orphanhood, improving parent-child relationships, and enhancing the overall well-being of children. Additionally, our mission includes sharing the Good News with those who have not yet heard it.
In 2023 we continued to work under the House Where Love Lives program in four areas - projects:
Project 1: GIVING a HAND project
Within the framework of the Giving a Hand project in 2023 ICHC supported 165 needy families who asked us for help:
165 families in Izhevsk received charitable assistance in kind - basic food kits: large - about 14 kg, and small - about 11 kg, both consisting of 12 items of essential alimentary products - for large families with more than three children and families with a single parent, respectively;
This number includes
127 families that received hygiene and household items;
30 large packages of diapers that were received by families with young children;
4 families that received assistance as a set of vitamins for children;
22 families of refugees from Ukraine who received assistance as specially formed kits of goods: food, personal hygiene items, vitamins, etc. We were trying to take into account the wishes of people. Actually the number of families of refugees is much bigger as many of them received our standard kits of help, the same as Russian citizens usually get. As those families live in Izhevsk independently, not on the basis of temporary accommodation provided by the State.
Here is what people in need tell about the help they got at ICHC:
I’m so thankful to all the staff and the director of ICHC for your help! It was just in time! (Farogat, mom in a difficult life situation)
Thank you so much for your constant support! (Albina, mom of 5 children)
I’m grateful to you for your help! (Alyona, a single young woman, orphan)

Project 2 : LET US BE MERCIFUL project
The project aims to provide assistance by fundraising for and covering the costs of treatment and rehabilitation for children with disabilities. This may include purchasing specialized equipment (special devices like removable joint immobilizers, specialized lenses, inhalers, medical equipment, etc.), covering travel expenses, and reimbursing medical procedure costs.
In 2023 in the framework of the project 33 families raising disabled children received help:
- in paying for medical supplies for disabled children;
- in purchasing specialized contact lenses, medicines and hygiene products for the refugee families;
- in paying for rehabilitation (manual therapy, educational activities) for children with disabilities;
- in buying classes on correction of children's behavior and development of skills for the boys and girls suffering from autism;
- in paying for botulinum therapy for a handicapped boy and a girl;
- in providing costly brain examination for a handicapped girl;
- in paying travel costs to the place of treatment to the clinic in Moscow for the "crystal boy" that we have known for quite a while already, as well as for other handicapped children;
- in paying for a course of classes on adaptive physical culture for a disabled child,
- in reimbursing travel costs to the place of full-time consultation with a doctor to determine the possibility of passive correction of foot deformation, determine the severity of spasticity of the muscles of the extremities and plan further medical measures for a disabled boy;
- in paying a surgery for a 4-year-old boy,
and many other ways to help other handicapped children.
Besides, ICHC provided assistance for pupils of the Republican orphanage in acquiring goods for gardening purposes for the labor education of orphans.
This kind of help turns out to be crucial for kids as well as for their parents – this very possibility becomes a sign of God’s mercy that reached them, as we always tell them, when they come to ICHC office. When it seems there is no hope, we’re glad to be there for them to make their life at least a little bit easier. And to make them draw closer to God, while going through a difficult situation.

Project 3: THESE CHILDREN ARE NOT SOMEBODY ELSE’S CHILDREN project
As part of this project, there is a Club for adoptive families, guardians and foster parents at ICHC: group classes, individual counselling sessions, events for children and teenagers, organized camps and trips take place regularly.
In 2023, the club held seven meetings with a Christian psychologist for foster parents: at the meetings, women share their issues in raising children and discuss godly ways of resolving conflicts in the family as well as other topics.
We also had two movie-trainings at the office: together with children and their parents our psychologist Olga watched movies on some hard and controversial situations in a teenager’s life and then they discussed it looking for positive reactions to conflicts in foster families.
Besides, we had a workshop on skin care and cosmetics for teenagers and their parents.
In total, 12 adoptive families took part in the project activities.
Olga the psychologist says:
Motherhood is something very essential, something that is put inside a person by God. But sometimes this normal desire is not realized for some reason. On the other hand, there is destructive human behavior, irresponsibility, various types of addiction - and at the same time a style of motherhood, where in fact the child is abandoned. Foster care becomes the solution to the problem. It’s simple from afar, but far from simple.
In our Foster parents Club of assistance to foster families, we first of all try to provide psychological and, if necessary, legal and social assistance to women. A very important point is the exchange of experience, where a woman tells others how she went through a certain difficult situation, how she overcame it, and thereby helps others not to give up, not to break up, which means to give a child a happy childhood, care, love, support.
Personally, I see the goal in supporting women from foster families to give a child a prosperous future that he might not have had without.

Project 4 : CHRISTMAS project
In early January, four charity musical performances "A Heart of Flame" based on the fairy tale by H.C. Andersen “The Snow Queen”, were held in Izhevsk and the town of Zavyalovo for pupils of orphanages in Udmurtia and children from families in a difficult life situation. This is the 24th charity Christmas performance organized by the staff and volunteers of the International Center of Hope & Charity for children of Udmurtia.
This year
- more than 3000 spectators watched our performances,
- 1,200 children received sweet Christmas gifts,
- more than 90 volunteers participated in the preparation and organization of the holiday.
The musical performance was based on the fairy tale by H.C. Andersen “The Snow Queen”.
Gerda's childhood faith, her loving heart and hope for strength from above help her overcome all difficulties in finding her named brother Kai; whom the intrigues of evil forces, and the kisses of the Snow Queen made insensitive to life, almost ruined him...
"Roses bloom... Beauty, beauty! Soon we will see the Baby Jesus... "
Gerda sang, and "Kai cried so long and hard that the shard flowed out of his eyes along with his tears."
Kai woke up from a terrible dream, he sees Gerda, the world and himself anew.
And through Gerda's act we can see the truth of the Holy Scriptures:
"Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends." (John 15:13). These are the words of the Savior Jesus Christ whose Christmas we celebrate.

THANK YOU!
In 2023, at the International Center for Hope & Charity we tried to do our best to support families with children in a difficult life situation, to give warmth to children deprived of parental care, to maintain healthy parental relationships and to increase the well-being of children in the Udmurt Republic. Our main task, however, was to share the Good News to those who were vulnerable and in need.
The International Center of Hope & Charity is a team of like-minded people: these are our employees, volunteers, partners, supporters. Thanks to the contribution of each one, ICHC not only exists, but continues to work and meet the needs of people and tasks of the new time.
We couldn’t express how much we are thankful to everyone who supported our charity work in 2023: all of you who helped us with word and deed, who helped financially, who volunteered, who were with us during this difficult year.
We thank all the participants involved with our projects for their selfless help and hard work! We thank them for their talents, time and efforts! We express our gratitude and admiration to our volunteers! We thank our partners, donators and friends!
Thank you for being an important part of our ministry!
Galina Alieva says:
Dear friends! My heart is rejoicing about the fact that thanks to the participation of every person involved with our ministry, a child or adult, a supporter or a volunteer, altogether we can show God’s mercy to those in need and tell people about His great love realizing that we are all parts of a big Christian family.
May the Lord bless you and keep you in peace and health,
Love,
Galina Alieva and ICHC team
